Puffinacher

Over the past five years, Food Instrument Corporation received many requests from various food processors, that use a foil seal on their single serving plastic containers for the development of a monitoring system to identify those improperly sealed containers ( leakers ) and to reject them from the processing lines.

Hence the Puffinacher project began with quality production and loss reduction being the primary goals. Our engineers recognized that in order to meet the needs of the food industries the equipment had to provide an inspection system capable of supporting a line speed in excess of 300 cpm that would be accurate, reliable and require low maintenance.

The project received tremendous industry interest and financial development support from a major U.S. processor. In-house testing was completed and the first unit was installed in a processing plant for a 30-day field test, the result was an overwhelming success. Line speeds, accuracy and reliability and maintenance all exceeded expectations.

The Puffinacher system prepares each container for proper seal inspection. The Puffinacher inspection system will allow, processors the capability of high speed, quality production while at the same time reducing losses in product and consumer complaints.

Two variations of the Puffinacher are available, the one pictured above is the pneumatic model, designed to be used in vacuum inspection applications, the second model is non pneumatic and designed for pressure fill applications.
